Electric Power University is a
public university with a multi-level and multi-discipline system, operating
under the management of Ministry of Industry and
Trade (MoIT) and its main function is to provide high quality manpower at
different training levels for the power sector and to satisfy society’s needs. Apart from
retraining and advanced training for technical and management staff members of
the power sector, the university also develops and promotes scientific
research, international cooperation, transfer and deployment of new technology
Besides, EPU is one of the the five universities authorized by the Government and Ministry of Education and
Training (MoET) to take responsibility for nuclear power training. The university also
provides short-term and part-time training courses for EVN subsidiaries.
EPU has provided training in 7 majors at
graduate level, 27 majors at undergraduate level, 19 majors at college level
and 5 majors in vocational training courses. At present, the total number of
students is approximately 15,000.
Over the past years, EPU staff and faculty
members have been increasing in terms of both quantity and quality. Until now,
the total number of staffs has reached 456, including 9 Associate Professors, 74
people with PhD degree, 227 people with Master’s degree, and guest lecturers.
100% of lecturers are well qualified and allocated in accordance with their
professional qualifications to ensure professional structure and qualifications
as prescribed by the Ministry of Education and Training. At present, for
specialized training majors, there are long-term lecturers who have PhD and
Master’s degrees as prescribed by the Ministry of Education and Training.
EPU has consistently received outstanding honors
of Vietnam Electricity, Ministry of Industry and Trade, and Ministry of
Education and Training. Many individuals and departments were awarded with
Labor Medals, Certificates of Merit and other honors from the Government,
Ministries, and Vietnam Electricity, etc. Also, the EPU’s Party Committee has
successively been renowned for its strength for many years. The Trade Union and
Youth Union of the university are well recognized and awarded certificates of
merit and many other honors.
